Samsung Galaxy S4 All Review

Samsung Galaxy S4 All Review
Review : S4

Samsung recently has released its latest product Samsung Galaxy S4, with a more elegant design and more features than the Galaxy S3.

The phone has software features such as Air Gesture, Smart Stay, and Smart Scroll, a 13-megapixel back camera, and a 5-inch (130 mm) 1080p display. The S4 has two major versions, one featuring a quad-core Snapdragon 600 and the other featuring an Exynos 5 Octa.

let's review a bit about this smartphone

Design better looking
Dimensions: 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm (5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 in)
Weight: 130 g (4.59 oz)
At first glance you'd have to err towards an evolution. The S3 certainly isn't a phone to show off with; not that it doesn't look rather pretty, but more because it's almost unrecognisable from its predecessor unless you look up close. This is no bad thing in our opinion as it didn't attract any unwanted attention on the train home, unlike an iPhone 5 just after its release.

Camera Features
Rear camera: 13 megapixels 1080p Full HD Video Recording @ 30fps Back-illuminated sensor, Auto focus, Touch to focus, Digital image stabilization, Face detection, Smile detection, Exposure compensation, White balance presets, Digital zoom, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), Panorama, Scenes, Effects, Self-timer, Voice activation

One of the major attractions of the S3 was the quality of its camera, and the S4 moves this on a notch, with a 13-megapixel sensor and a host of new features.
There’s Dual Shot, which uses both rear- and front-facing cameras to shoot simultaneously and combine the two images in a montage. Sound & Shot records nine seconds of audio to accompany photos, while Drama Shot captures a series of images and superimposes them on top of each other, resulting in a collage action shot.

Eraser Shot takes five images, and can remove unwanted people from pictures, and there’s also Best Face and Beauty Face – the former attempts to pick the best faces from a group of shots before superimposing them onto one image, and the latter claims to enhance facial attributes during shooting.

Front camera: 2 megapixels 1080p HD Video Recording @ 30fps Back-illuminated sensor

Hardware
The S4 GT-I9505 includes a multiband LTE transceiver and both models feature an infrared LED that can serve as a universal remote control.

Built into the 2600mAh battery is near field communication (NFC) connectivity, which allows users to perform non-touch payments at shops that employ specially equipped NFC cash registers. The SC-04E model has a FeliCa secure element, unlike other models which contain an NFC-A secure element. The NFC-A secure element on the SC-04E is provided on the SIM card. The battery can be wirelessly charged using a Qi standard special charging pad (sold separately) that utilizes magnetic resonance to produce a magnetic field through which power can be transferred.

The Galaxy S4 supports the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) video format.
In addition to the touchscreen, the S4 has several physical user inputs including a home button located near the bottom of the screen, at the bottom of the S4 is the primary microphone and the microUSB port for both data connections and charging; it also supports USB host and MHL 2.0. There are volume keys on the left side and a power/lock key on the right. At the top there is a 0.14-inch (3.6 mm) headphone jack, the secondary microphone, and infrared blaster. The backside of the S4 has the 13 megapixel camera lens and LED flash, and at the bottom left edge has the loudspeaker.

The S4 also uses the same Adreno 320 GPU as the HTC One. It's a powerful chip and a huge step forward over the S3. We hit 50fps in the recent 3Dmark Ice Storm test, and managed almost 30fps in the far tougher Extreme version of the same test. We doubt anyone will make an Android game in the near future that will trouble this hardware overly.
samsung s4

Processor
1.9 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 8064T quad-core (or Samsung Exynos 5 1.6 GHz octa-core in some overseas markets)
With a processor similar to the previous smartphone products, Samsung is consistent with the android operating system better.

Connectivity
Connectivity on the Samsung Galaxy S4 is well catered for, thanks to simply packing every kind of sensor under the sun in there. For instance, you've got low power Bluetooth (Bluetooth 4.0) which means you can connect to a wide range of sensors - like trainers - and have them send back up data without taking up loads of power and sucking the battery dry.

As you can imagine, S Beam and NFC are both present and correct on the Samsung Galaxy S4, with both working well in tandem to nab stuff off other phones which you've tapped the back of.

It uses a Wi-Fi Direct connection to make it easier to send items from A to B, and does do very speedily indeed. It might look odd, but we still believe massively in the power of NFC thanks to the plethora of speaker docks and headphones that now use it for easier Bluetooth pairing.

GPS and GLONASS are on board, as we mentioned above in the Maps section of the review, and combined offer a startlingly quick location time when firing up the mapping services. Seriously quick – we urge you to try it.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 supports all manner of Wi-Fi connections, and can hang on to the signal even when weak thanks to dual-channel bonding to preserve the data transfer.

We can't say that we noticed much of an upgrade over other models, but then again that's not bad thing as most of the top end smartphones will now manage to offer decent Wi-Fi connections given they're so crucial to the running of the phone.

Battery life
  • 2600 mAh Standard Battery
  • Up to 8 Hours Internet Usage Time (3G)
  • Up to 10 Hours Usage Time Internet (WI-FI)
  • Up to 11 Hour Video Playback Time
  • Up to 62 Hours Audio Playback Time
  • 2600 mAh battery
  • USB Chargeable
  • Up to 17 Hours Talk Time (W-CDMA)
  • Up to 370 Hours Standby Time (W-CDMA)
the old battery life test. One of the world's most difficult things to rate, thanks to the sheer range of things you can do with the phone to keep it from throwing out all its juice in a heartbeat.
If you can't be bothered to read why, just understand that Galaxy S4 = good battery life.

For one person the Galaxy S4 is a treasured beast, only brought out into the dappled light to check emails manually once an hour for most of the day. For the next it's an all-powerful media beast, one that will be streaming movies over a 4G connection while auto-updating every app under the sun.
Good
  • Most powerful Android device we've ever tested
  • Full HD resolution
  • Extremely bold screen
  • Good camera
  • Some helpful software features
Bad
  • Plastic build feels cheap
  • Design is almost identical to the older S3
  • Interface can be confusing
  • Battery life isn't great
  • 16GB model has limited space for apps

Sony Xperia ZR Review and Test

New Xperia ZR

Water resistant
and can take pictures in water

This yesterday Sony launched re-type android smartphone product, namely the Sony Xperia ZR.

I wonder now sony meluncukan products with a fast time as the Sony Xperia Z, SP Xperia, Xperia Zl latest and L.

What the Excess Sony Xperia ZR ...???
I think a lot of changes and improvements that are given to the Sony Xperia ZR, just like the Xperia Z are waterproof and dustproof, ZR is given by the function in the excess water. You can use such as recording video, taking photos with a depth of 2 meters.

See video advertisement from sony

Let's see Into the ZR Xperia comes with a Dual Core processor, 1.5 GHz processor with 2GB ram and 8 GB of memory, this is quite good for its class of smartphones. If we use the ZR with full memory will not interfere with guests' when using the application.

On Display One of the biggest differences between the Z and the ZR is the smaller screen and the non-full HD resolution. The smaller screen is welcomed as it should offer better grip and ergonomics and the lower resolution should pose lesser strain on the CPU/GPU, so we can expect better battery life as well. The ZR’s pixel density is still a little above 320 ppi, so the display is well within "Retina" standards.

Connectivity: The ZR features all the connectivity essentials like Wi-Fi ‘n’, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.0, NFC and video out via MHL. There’s no mention of GLONASS, but we believe that should be present as well.

The “WALKMAN”, Album and Movies applications enable discovery of online and offline content through a single access point with new ways to enjoy and share that content. The “WALKMAN” application provides access to all your downloaded music, a library of over 20 million songs to explore from Music Unlimited and Facebook social integration. The Movies application provides access to over 150,000 movies and TV series from Video Unlimited. The Album application enables easy access to Facebook friends’ photos and browsing photos by location. A new feature of this app is ‘Faces’ which recognizes and sorts the faces in your photo album so you can tag existing contacts or add names to familiar faces.

Here are some features that exist in the Xperia ZR:
  • OS: Android OS, v4.1 (Jelly Bean)
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064
  • CPU: Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait
  • GPU: Adreno 320
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass
  • Messaging: SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, IM, Push Email
  • Browser: HTML5
  • Radio: Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • GPS: Yes, with A-GPS support
  • Java: Yes, via Java MIDP emulator
  • SNS integration
  • TV-out (via MHL A/V link)
  • Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic
  • MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player
  • MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV/Flac player

If we see its almost the same as the previous Sony smartphone.

One of the features of the Xperia Z that Sony talked up during the device's announcement earlier this year is its toughness, touting the phone's anti-shatter film as well as its resistance to both dust and water. This morning Sony took things a step further, though, announcing a new Xperia Z variant that can withstand being submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep.

Dubbed the Xperia ZR, Sony's new Android-powered smartphone features IP55 and IP58 ratings that allow it to survive in 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Sony also notes that the Xperia ZR features a dedicated camera key on its side, allowing users to snap some photos and record video while taking their Xperia ZR for a swim. In addition to its water submersion capabilities, the Xperia ZR is also resistant to both dust and scratches.

The remainder of the Xperia ZR's spec list contains many of the features of a mid- to high-end Android smartphone. There's a 4.6-inch 1280x720 display and VGA camera on its face, as well as a 13-megapixel shooter on its backside. Buried inside the ZR's water resistant frame is a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage, microSD slot, support for HSPA+ and LTE connectivity and a 2,300mAh battery that's powering the whole show. The Xperia ZR comes preloaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will be offered in black, white, green and pink variants.

While the Xperia ZR offers a design similar to its Xperia Z and ZL siblings, it also packs in a slightly smaller screen than its 5-inch brethren. However, it also offers higher-end specs than the similarly-sized Xperia SP, meaning that the ZR could make a good fit for someone that wants the Xperia Z/ZL experience in a smaller package. Or for folks that just like to swim. Either way, look for the Xperia ZR to begin diving into the pools, tubs and other water sources of consumers "in various global markets" starting in Q2 2013.

Features of Samsung GALAXY S4 GT-I9500

Dual Camera photos and recording
Two cameras are better than one. With the Galaxy S4's Dual Camera mode, you can capture stills or videos from both the rear-facing, 13-MP camera and the front-facing 2-MP webcam at the same time. Just imagine recording the look on your own face while you watch and record a concert or even the birth of your child!

With the launch of its Optimus G Pro, LG recently added a very similar dual-recording feature, but unlike LG, Samsung lets you reposition and resize the boxes that hold the picture from each camera, allowing you to have a split-screen view or make the front camera have a bigger chunk of the picture. Even better, the Galaxy S4 includes several attractive templates that will change the look of the image, making that picture of your head heart-shaped, oval or blurred.

Smart Scroll/Smart Pause
Scrolling down your favorite Web pages on a touch screen is pretty natural for all of us by now, but it can obstruct your view and potentially cause you to tap a link by accident. And forget about scrolling if you're using a phone one-handed, unless it's the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4's Smart Scroll allows you to move up and down the length of your favorite websites just by staring at the screen and tilting the phone back or forward. The phone also knows when you've looked away from the display and, using a feature called Smart Pause, will pause any videos you've been playing until you look at it again

Air gestures/Smart Call Accept
You're driving in the car with your phone mounted on the dashboard and it rings. What do you do? If you take your hand off the wheel, reach across the dashboard and slide the answer button, you might veer into another lane by the time your mom starts talking on the other end.

Fortunately, with Samsung's new Smart Call Accept feature you can answer the phone and have it turn on the speakerphone with the wave of a hand. You can control your music player with Smart Gestures, allowing you to wave right past that Taylor Swift song your wife snuck onto your playlist. You can even cycle through open tabs in the Web browser with gestures.

Group Play/gaming
Even the best smartphone speakers aren't loud enough to fill a large room all by themselves. But what if you could have all of your friends' phones act as speakers and turn themselves into a giant stereo? With the Galaxy S4's Group Play feature, all you need to do is tap phones and you can stream a song to every other handset in the room.

With the Galaxy S4, you and your buddies can share more than music, photos or videos. You can cooperate or compete in games such as "Asphalt 7" racing or "Gun Brothers" -- and those are just two of many titles that will support this feature. We're holding out for a mobile version of "World of Warcraft."

Eraser shot
It happens every time you're on vacation. You're taking a picture of your kids standing in front of a landmarl and some weirdo with a Mickey Mouse hat that has two beer cans strapped to it runs across your field of view. Unless you want a blurry image of this dude to dominate your memories, you'll appreciate Samsung's new Eraser Shot feature. With this mode engaged, you'll be able to zap moving objects from your photos, leaving only the people and things you want to see.

Photo reader
Ever meet an interesting new business contact at an event, grab that person's card and then lose it before you've entered their info your contacts list? With the Galaxy S4's Photo Reader app, you don't even have to type that information in. Simply launch the app, take a photo and wait a couple of seconds as the phone uses optical character recognition to read the words on the card and translate them into editable text.

The Photo Reader also integrates with Samsung's S Translate so, if you're photographing a piece of paper with a foreign language written on it, you can translate that text accordingly.

Story album
You take pictures everywhere you go, but you rarely look at them twice because they're all in one giant folder. You could sort them into albums based on the time and place you took them, but that's work. The Galaxy S4's Story Album feature knows when you've been traveling and, if you take a bunch of photos at the same time and location, it will send you a notification suggesting that you create a new album.

After naming your album and picking a cover photo, the Galaxy S4 puts the photos together in an attractive package that's easy to upload to Facebook. Better still, Samsung's partnership with Blurb makes it easy to order printed versions of your Story Albums for old-fashioned offline viewing.

Nokia Lumia 620 Smartphone Review

Nokia Lumia 620 Smartphone
The Lumia 620 could easily be regarded as one of the cutest smartphones on the shelf. It’s small, colourful, lightweight and looks a little bit like a little toy. It’s got a lot going for it, including a very reasonable price, Rs 14,199. But considering Android also has this price bracket cornered with some pretty impressive, high-spec'd devices, the questions is, will the 620 stand a chance? Read on to find out.

Design
If you’re familiar with Nokia’s recent design choices on its Lumia handset range, then you won’t be surprised to find many of those same design choices present in the 620. You get the same high-end plastic feel from its case, the same standard Windows Phone operating system buttons, and of course, the same vibrant colour options — the 620 can have white, green, blue, yellow and red case options, and the back case is removable, so you can pick the colour which suits you.

On the right-hand side of the unit sits the normal three Windows Phone buttons — a volume rocker, an on/off button, and a dedicated camera button, while a micro-USB port on its bottom does charging/synching duties, and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top provides audio. There’s also a small speaker set into the phone’s back, and its camera is, of course, in the normal place. The 620 measures 115.4mm by 61.1mm, and it’s 11mm thick. It weighs 127g.

All of this is fairly standard. So what’s new here?

Probably the most comparable model to the 620 is the 610, which went on sale in Australia in mid-2012. In Delimiter’s review of that model, we were pretty positive, seeing the 610 as a well-put-together little unit that was, nevertheless, a little hard to recommend on a pricing basis (given the fact that more powerful Nokia models were available for just a little more).

The 620 feels like quite an improvement on the 610 in general. We like its colours better, it sits in the hand a little better, and the case feels like it has better build quality in general. The 610 always felt a little cheap, while the 620 actually feels like it has the full Nokia build quality. We think you’ll really like the way the 620 sits in the hand; it’s a comfortable and vibrant phone with great design.

Performance
For starters, the dual-core 1GHz processor paired with 512MB of RAM should provide enough grunt for good performance. The HTC WP8S has similar specs, and we find the real world usage performance between the two as fairly similar. Apps take a similar time to open, and that is fairly acceptable. While this processor package will not set the world alight, it will definitely feel adequate if you are upgrading from a phone less powerful, or shifting sideways from Android to Windows Phone.

To put things in perspective, and for a better like for like comparison, we have pitted this against the HTC WP8S in a series of benchmark tests. While the numbers may not mean much in a real world usage scenario where comfort of use and your personal preference does take precedence, the pedantic readers would appreciate a comparative test.

Connectivity
Nokia has included most connectivity options we’d expect from any standard mobile handset these days, minus a couple of features. The Lumia 620 comes with 3G capabilities, Wi-Fi (dual band), EDGE and GPS with GLONASS for Nokia Drive, Maps and apps like Nokia City Lens, all of which work very well. NFC, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and, of course, USB 2.0 for PC interfacing and charging are also provided for. What the handset lacks is Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA or a physical port for AV out (MHL) and Wireless charging. With regard to DLNA specifically, Nokia is working on an app called Play To that will support wireless streaming via WLAN. As of now, the app is still in beta testing and will not ship with the device out of the box.
Connectivity Nokia
Syncing email via ActiveSync, POP or IMAP is a cinch and syncing issues with WP8 also seemed to have been ironed out. So just like you would with an Android handset, as soon as you sync an email account or your Nokia account with the device, settings, contacts etc. will flow in. Sharing media to SkyDrive also ensures no loss of data. Although chat apps like WhatsApp are available, Instagram and a few others are yet to make an appearance on the WP8 platform. Of course, you can also set up your MS Xbox account for games and related details. Video calling via Skype is also a feature that could be handy for those who frequent that network.

Battery
Packing in a 1300 mAh battery, the Lumia 620 almost completed a full loop in our tech2 Loop Test (2 hours talk time, 2 hours video, 2 hours audio, 1 hour audio streaming, 1 hour video streaming) totalling up for 7 hours and about 45 minutes of rigorous use. That's quite impressive considering the price and battery capacity

The Bottom Line
For Rs 14,600, the Lumia 620 is a superb handset. Sure, it’s a lot smaller than the competition and even the specs don’t quite compare, but what it does offer in terms of UI functionality, superb audio and changeable panels (with an IP54, water and dust resistant option on its way) makes it quite worth that price. If a Windows Phone experience is what you want, and you’re not quite willing to spend too much, it won’t get better than this.
